DON’T over schedule. Try to allocate not more than fifty percent of

your week in advance. Leave the remainder of the time to deal with priorities
that emerge during the course of the week.

DON’T keep two separate schedules of personal and business
appointments. It is important to schedule time for the important things or

people in your life. That way, you can see at a glance whether or not you are
maintaining a balance between work and leisure and whether you are making

time for family, friends and yourself.

Do prioritise by colour-coding tasks in your diary or daily planner in

order of importance. You can use coloured pens or highlighters or even

coloured dot stickers available at stationery outlets.

DO keep a time log when starting a new project or business. It will give

you a good idea of the time frame and at the end of the week; you can look
back upon your week and isolate all the time-wasters.

THE IMPORTANCE OF USING A DIARY

Everyone needs a diary, from busy executive to housewife and mother or

student. Some diaries are extremely expensive, but inexpensive ones work
just as well. In fact, you can even use an ordinary notebook, small enough to

carry with you at all times, and write the day and date at the top of each page.
